School-Based Tuition Assistance

While each school in the Archdiocese of New Orleans sets their own budgets; nearly all of our schools offer need-based aid or have an academic scholarship program available to families seeking assistance in paying tuition. For more information about these school-managed programs, families should be in direct communication with their school’s admissions and financial aid officers. Champions of Catholic Education
Each Spring the Department of Catholic Education and Faith Formation gives families opportunities to apply for tuition assistance through Facts Management. Families should be notified by the end of June if they have recieved the tuition assistance or not.

State of Louisiana Tuition Tax Credit Program
This program has two features. The first is designed to give qualifying students up to $4,500.00 toward their Catholic Education. The second is to give parents, businesses and anyone else who pays state income tax in Louisiana the ability to help their school through donating their state tax return to scholarship assistance.

Louisiana State Scholarship for Excellence Program

The Louisiana Scholarship Program empowers low-income families with the same opportunity as more affluent parents already have – the financial resources to send their child to the school of their choice. 

Launched in 2008 in New Orleans, the Louisiana Scholarship Program, formally known as the Student Scholarships for Education Excellence Program, was expanded statewide in 2012. Annually, more than 12,000 students applied for a Scholarship and nearly 7,200 students accepted a Scholarship and enrolled in a participating, state-approved private school.

To be eligible for a Scholarship, students must have a family income that does not exceed 250% of the federal poverty guidelines and must be entering kindergarten or enrolled in a public school with a C, D, or F grade. School Choice Program for Students With Exceptionalities

Students with disabilities in some school districts may be eligible for the School Choice Program, which provides families with tuition assistance to attend eligible participating schools that offer special needs programs. Students wishing to attend a nonpublic school in parishes with a population of 190,000 or more are eligible for this program, which includes Caddo, Calcasieu, East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Lafayette, Orleans and St.Tammany. Participating private schools must be eligible to receive state funding.
Tuition assistance is 50% of the state per pupil funding for the student's school district (approximately $2,500) and cannot exceed the cost of the private school tuition. Families are responsible for paying the difference if tuition exceeds that amount. Click Here to learn more about the School Choice program.
